Hi!

I have been using the KDVD templates for a while now & I think they are great to use. However, when I burn my movies to DVD-R I always notice that the average movie uses up about 2.5gig leaving a lot of spare space.

I know that the idea of KDVD is to get as much on one disk as possible but I was wondering if I only want 1 movie on the disk are there any tweaks I could do to improve the quality even further without worying too much about size?

Is this a stupid question or am I making any sense?
(Be gentle, I'm a noob!)

Many thanks in advance.

micol,

You can rise the Q fator in CCE or CQ in Tmpgenc to to maximmum. You can also drop filtering, no need for that if have so much space.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using TMPGEnc Plus & I have looked at the CQ settings but i'm not sure what to increase. The sliding bar can increase to 100 max but the maximum bitrate setting below can increase to any figure. I'm also not familiar with filters & don't know how to drop the filtering

Can you tell me what to do?

CQ from 66 to 100
Min 500 to 1,500 (some players do not like low bitrates)
Max 5,000 to 7,000

You take 3, 1 min samples from the movie and test it out. You get 4.65GB on a DVD-R so divide by movie time and that will give you ~ what file size you need to be under per minute.
