Hi Dialhot,

After trying every known script to smooth out my Futurama captures,

Analog cable (no cable box)Hauppauge PVR-250 at 720x480 MPEG2 12.0MBit/sec(CBR)

I have finally gotten a good encode using Version 2 of your AVI script with SKVCD 352x480MPEG2. This is after numerous, and I mean numerous, trials of different script and template combinations.

Great script!

Still not quite there with non-cartoon captures, but getting closer. I do ok with KVCDx3MPEG2 at 704x480, but do not get smooth enough action with other resolutions. The posted MA script is the best I have found so far for non_cartoons. I'm using both a Cyberhome500 and Apex.

Do you have any suggestions for trying to enhance smoothing?

Again, thanks for the script!

I don't know if taht help on the smoothing but you can try my "perhaps V4 script" I'm currently testing :
Code:
BlindPP(cpu=4)
Blockbuster(method="noise",detail_min=1,detail_max=3,variance=0.1,seed=1)
Convolution3D(1, 6, 12, 6, 8, 2.8, 0)
GripCrop(352, 240, overscan=1, source_anamorphic=false)
GripSize(resizer="LanczosResize")
Undot()
TemporalSoften(2,7,7,3,2)
DCTFilter(1,1,1,1,1,1,0.5,0)
GripBorders()
I need feedback on it. Tell me.

There were two versions of Convolution3D I saw on http://www.avisynth.org/~warpenterprises/ for Avs 2.52, just wondering which one you use (and whether it matters or not). Thanks! I'll let you know in a sec my opinion of v4 script

Wow dialhot, what can I say? v4 is EXCELLENT! I just did a bunch of encodes with v3 and noticed in a couple of places where the image is near-dark, there would be a speckling of small black squares which would dance around. I encoded a small 1 min clip with both v3 and v4 and v4 cleaned it RIGHT UP. For the most part, you can't even tell some of these came from divx sources. There is also barely a speed change between the two, and even a slight compression increase with v4. Good job guy, I say post it immediately!

P.S. I never tried your Oct 8 script, but I guess you abandoned the one using VagueDenoiser?

It's probably the YV12 version since all MPEG files are natively in YV12. IIRC that version has the temporal influence disabled so it only does spatial filtering. Maybe that's why it's pretty damn fast

I confirm that you need Convolution3D_YV12 for use in my last script as blibPP works only in YV12.

@J-WO
Yeah, I dropped the script with VagueDenoiser as the general advice was that it was too heavy on the details.
I'm happy my last script made its first happy user with you

I will post it soon.
