I tried to encode 121 minute movie to a KVCD(352x240) and KSVCD(480x480) picture quality was very bad not watchable. I saw noise around images and overall picture quality was very bad. I used latest KVCD notch matrices and used KVCD suggested GOP structure as well. Not sure if I am expecting too much from these KVCD templates.

Hi Kwag,

My source was DVD and I used DVD2SVCD. I believe it uses AviSynth. I also tried it with Bicubic resize frameserve method and also used MA script posted in other sections of this forum.

I also tried it with DVD2KVCD plugin template to make sure that i am using correct settings. I deleted the log file for 120min movie but I have it for one I tried last night for 175min movie. please see below, I thought this might help you figure out if I am doing anything wrong.

Your aspect ratio is wrong : select "16:9 (borders added, encoded as 4:3)"

Note: did you change the settings of tmpgenc to have the correct GOP ? And also the Matrix (DVD21SVCD knows the KVCD matrix but it is the old one and you have to update it to the KVCD-Notch matrix manually - see homepage of KVCD.net for KVCD specifications).

I used MA script which adds borders, not SVCD standard script. Although I do not want to add borders but I did a test run to see if thats what I am doing wrong. Please see "AVS begin" section in the log file posted in the previous post.

I also used KVCD notch matrix and the latest GOP structure which is 1-24-2-1-24. I also tried it with DVD2KVCD plugin thats out there just to make sure I am using latest script. Still bad quality picture.

Its nowhere near the quality of KVCD test clips that I downloaded.

Force Film NOT activated!
Framerate: 29970

This could be the problem, with a framerate of 29.97 you don't get nearly as good quality as with 23.976 or 25fps. Check your settings, try with Force FILM activated.
