I am capturing video with firewire from my Sony Camera at DV quality. I am using the video software that comes with Windows XP professional. The AVI files are quite large once edited. This file is in sync when played on the Windows Media player.

I then use TMPGEnc to Convert to SVCD using my own template that has CQ and set to 100 quality. The video is then out of sync.

Is it my template that is causing the problem? It would be a shame, because the video clarity is perfect with my settings.

Thanks for any help,
Ivan

Hi Ivan:

That's not a problem related to templates. Does your encoded mpeg go out of sync in WMP? Have you burned your mpeg to a CD and tried it on a standalone DVD player? I have a similar problem sometimes when playing in WinDVD, but on my DVD player it never goes out of sync.
It could also be a TMPEG problem dealing with the DV file when encoding.

The latest avi's I have encoded to scvd are in sync using windows media player, but are out of sync when played on my standalone DVD player.

Could it be NERO putting it out of sync?

Could it be a windows problem with DV? Is it possible that when I record using the windows Movie maker it is our of sync, but Windows media player compensates in some way to hide the problem?

Should I try a different recording program or try the NERO svcd plug-in?

Thanks for any help,
Ivan

Hi Ivan:

Why don't you try encoding one of your DV files with TMPEG, but encode as standard VCD, and see if it maintains audio/video sync in your DVD player. If it does, then you know the problem is not in your source. You can also try to burn with VCDEasy and see if it works better than Nero. Also, you could have a problem with the media brand your burning to.
