I have a KVCD CDR which I have somehow erased the MPG source of. I don't want to re-encode the DVD ripped files because it would take a long time. Is there any program out there to convert the AVSEQ01.DAT file back to *.MPG? I have tried using VCDGear but it complains of invalid MPEG pack size. Thanks for any help/info.

You can try just opening the .DAT with TMPEG tools and demux it. Then remux the streams back again as non-standard VCD. It should work.

i cant recall if ISOBuster will do it or not, but try it....
i extracted a stubborn mpg (svcd from the cd) back to the harddrive and then ran it thru vcdgear.

Thx for the quick reply guys.

Kwag,
TMPGEnc is complaining of invalid stream when I try to open the .dat file. Tried both simple de-multiplex and demultiplex; no go.

Will try ISOBuster and will let you know of the results

Do an internet search for a small program called vcdgear gui. It will convert back to .mpg
