Kwag, How would I be able to get better quality and still be able to fit mu movies on two CD's. I am already encoding my audio at 320 kbps and have thought o lowering that and using two audio files. ec. Two different Languages. This sounds good except I only speak english. What can I do to get better quality video with the 704x480 Plus template. By the way, The quality is amazing and I probably wouldnt even notice it but I would just like to fill both cd's. Would it help to up the CQ_VBR value or to up the bitrate?

Thanks,
A-Star

Hia_star62:

The 704x480 PLUS is pretty much maxed out in quality. I don't thing you're going to get any more quality increase by upping th quality value. You'll just get a larger mpeg file. The PLUS templates already use CQ_VBR. Not CQ like in the old templates.

What would it do if I were to up the maximum bitrate? Would that help for action scenec that may seem blocky. I havent run into any because I havent done any action movies yet but would it help for action scenes?

If your DVD player supports higher bit rates, go ahead and increase the MAX. I used 2,300 MAX for the templates, because most DVD players work fine up to around 2,500. Then they start to cough, if you increase the bit rate above +- 2,500.

Isn't a standard that all DVD players have to be able to decode MPEG-2 (which is what I use for 3:2 pulldown) at at least 9.8 MBps and most can decode at up to 15MBps? If this is so then why does it cough at around 2.5 MBps? Just wondering.

Those bit rates are supported for DVD mode. They're not supported for VCD and SVCD modes.
