I know this is not the best way to do it but i have music videos and instead of using directshowsource(haven't had any luck so far)i used the Huffyuv lossless codec to make the avi.

The i use the v4 script and when i play everything on the computer it is perfect(the avi and the final mpeg).But when i watch it on the tv it isin't correct because when the name of the video comes up i can't see all the printing on the screen,it cuts off a bit of the video.

Does anyone know how i correct this

You should use a bigger overscan.

Which value of overscan are you usign currently ?

This is exactly what i am using

i didn't know i was to use overscan

edit-I just checked the optimal scripts and see that it is there(when i copied it mine don't have it )

It's the only value for this resolution. You can go to 2 (or 3) only with bigger pictures.

If I understood it right there is a formula that tell you which overscan to use with the resolution you are encoding, right
And it doesn't have anything to do on how big the tv screen is, right
Could you elaborate a bit more on that Phil?
Also is there any difference if we are encoding in anamorphic mode?

As a 352x288(240) video will be stretched 2times in its width and height, the borders also will be stretched that much thats the logic.

So we could recommend:

352x288(240) = Overscan 1
352x576(480) = Overscan = 1 (cause of still half width)

480x576(480) = Overscan = 2

704(720)x576(480) = Overscan = 2 (and if your TV gots a big overscan you even can try Overscan 3

But these values all depend on the specs of your Tv set!
In some cases i.e. you also can use a Overscan =3 at 480x576 ... If your Tv set gots a big overscan /movie cropping

No there is not.

In anamorphic mode watching on a 4:3 tv there only will be the height squeezed, so Dialhot is right .. you can use the same Overscan.

But when watching on a 16:9 Tv set, where the 720 width will be stretched to its non-anamorph condition the result will be 1024x576(480) and so in this case you should try what max overscan will not be recognised as black borders on the sides.
