I have RESTREAM and it has field called "Quantisizer scale", all my CCE encoded MPEG-2 videos reads NONLINEAR. How I make a video that's LINEAR? What setting in CCE 2.67 should I change?

Mpeg2 according to its specs is regulary NON-Linear, so CCE works ok. Thats also why I was a bit cunfused when I saw that mencoder/ffvfw do output Linear Quantizer scale.

I want to try LINEAR Quantisizer Scale since many CCE Guides on the net says to do when making DVDs. Do you know how to set it in CCE? I couldn't find anything in the manual when I searched for "linear".

Its a myth that linear Quantization is better!
I did some tests using linear and non linear Quantisation (using Mencoder, but no matter which appl.)... the non Linear Quantisation is better! Its like VBR so quantisation is heavy where it can be heavy and is low where its needed to be low!

I saw it in the results and the Non-Linear came out far better!

I wonder if you don't mistaken "non-linear" and "non-constant".

I really don't know what Restream called "non-linear" Quantize scale but to me it's weird to have a constant Q curve (btw, I never had one with ffvfw )
