through various encodes with the same film ice noticed that once i put the cq past 74 it makes no difference what so ever. If i wanted i could put it at 100 and the file size wont change why is this?

surely because you set the max video bitrate too low and thus, you can increase the CQ, when the max is reached, it is reached

What are the min/max bitrate yous set ?

i just leave the bitrate at 1800 and the min at 300!

It could be because the Movie is very dark and low action scenes.
