OK guys i have been reading thread after thread and still can't get it

I wasn't getting the best quality with mpeg1 like everyone else and people have said to use mpeg2 still to fit on cdr.

Now i have read from Black Prince and Kwag that they are using 704x480 to fit on cdr(not dvd),Can you put a 100 minute mpeg2 movie on 1 cdr,i didn't think so but i am getting so confused.

I tried 1 with packshot but didn't know what to use for bitrate,i used from cq matic but switched the max to 2500,is this wrong.

I thought i knew how to do it but i did a movie with mpeg2 settings and the same movie with tmpge and the tmpge version was way better.

I know i must be doing something wrong because alot of people are having the opposite result

So please any hints you can give ,i will gladly listen

Thanx

Tom

Hi Tom,
Just download Calcumatic from the CQMatic forum.
Use the VCD/SVCD mux overhead option.
On a 100 minute movie if you encode with packshot with target resolution of 704x480/576 you will have to set the average between 900 and 950 with a max of 2000.
Don't forget to use VBV of 112 and GOP size of 25.
There the quality will be on tmpgenc as this is very low bitrate.
Cheers

Correction there Rui
Use 15 for PAL and 18 for NTSC.
The longer GOPs don't give good results with mencoder.

I`m having the same problems. I can`t achieve the same quality with MencodeMe as i usually did with tmpgenc.

Besides using calcumatic how do i set MencodeMe for a higher bitrate and plus how do i change GOP?
I don`t have a clue how to do that?

Thanks!

What's that? You mean mencode-me is using GOP=24? Or you mean you want to add the option of longer GOP in it? I've been using your mencode-me tool for a little while and i'm getting great results but I'm getting a strange error when i author the dvd with the files:

http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11076

I just wondered if it was related to the GOP

Thnx
