Oooops....You might refer to my Avatar ??? Lol
Ok...if this is the case, here are some explanations :
1 - currently no funny toon to get as my Avatar ( THANK YOU KARL...THANK YOU...LOL (on the floor again !!!)).
2 - This is Steven Seagal. He's not one of these Actors who say they practise Boudhism on a daily basis (like R. Gere or others...) just because "it's currently fun" to say that.
I like some aspects in Boudhism (not all of them !!!...Lol) and I've been practising Aïkido for some years now.
That's the best I can tell you (with Phil Collins)...

Hey guys,
Sorry to bump in on the nice conversation but I found my way with foobar and streaming.
Just paste California101 link in 'Playlist>Add location...' menu.
It rocks
Cheers

@François (and all!),
I'm conducting a little experiment here
You see, I am now listening almost haf the day to California 101 radio (thanks again François )
But the problem is, that if my wife wants to hear the station from her PC, and my daughter too also from her PC (we have about 5 machines in the house!), that would require three (or more!) streams from Carifornia radio, which would costs bandwidth to the servers (and to François!).
So this is what I did in my server.
I installed all required servers Icecast2, oddcast, etc., on my primary machine that I tune to California 101 radio.
Then I have a local server on my local intranet, where anybody on my house can connect to, and this way I only take one precious stream from California 101's provider, but I can have many "repeater" streams in my house, in my local server
This saves bandwidth (and money to François ), and I help ease the network strain, because I only listen to one stream.
It works like a charm
As a matter of fact, I'm considering investigating "Multicasting" possibilities to add to my server, so this way, I can have several real-time streams broadcasting inside my house (in my Intranet), and this will be very convenient
I have to brush up more on Multicasting, but I'll take a close look at it
What do you think about this guys

Hi you all,
So glad to read those lines. I thank you Karl for your installation at your home ( do they all listen to California-101 ?), but, at this point, there's no emergency as for my bandwith.
Once again, I'm not the one who really takes care of Ogg...and you may all want to listen to the stream here via this format, while ignoring the MP3 one, I think the server should not overflow by now (though supposed to be effectively limited)...
I had different Icecast servers for the OggVorbis stream and the specifications have sometimes changed; The last modification (along with the dns of the site) should incite me to think we could make one test, at one very particular moment of the day, to see when Ogg overflows; That should be interesting.
Mind you, just the same for the MP3 part; I know the server located in California won't accept more than 10 concurent listeners...But mine in Paris could easily do that though not using any Linux versions, nor even win server 2003...Currently, only Win XP Pro (and I already checked everything was ok with 15 concurent listeners,...though the O.S. is not made to support more than 10 connections...).
As I told Karl in one mail, I am not currently very healthy (bad cold matters...), and I need twice as much time (or more) to read, write or go on improving my site.
I was amazed some people wrote some lines in the old Californian message board...Strange messages though (mostly the one about the TV show...where did they find this old forum ???). lol
Thank you all for still listening to California-101 every now and then,...and please,...don't hesitate to post on the radio forum; The next concert is Friday...So, it might be a little too "short in time" for me to find the one you would like to listen to,..but I need your " willing lists".
I think I am going to stream James Taylor (Live in Rio) for Jorge. This one is a real great concert.
Well,...take care you all, and have a nice day
Viva a Baja California !

I should have read the "docs" a little more
The concept I was talking about, is already set up and discussed in the Icecast documents: http://www.icecast.org/docs/icecast-...ile.html#relay

Hi,
Thanks Danilo. If you like the Doobies and/or Michael Mc. Donald, there are plenty of their songs in the playlist and you should get the one you haven't heard for sometimes.
btw and for everyone who has posted here : what do you think about some "cracking" LPs that can hardly be found on CDs ??? (I should post a topic on my forum about that...). Albeit you're all very technical aspects oriented and implicated, you could hear real great californian tunes that I had to remove from the playlist (I'm not rich enough to have thousands of CDs...and no,...you can't find anything while using the P2P...Lol).
Eg : some Greg Guidry, Nicolette Larson or Karla Bonoff's songs...
What do you say? (talking about the cracking sound at California-101)
Thank you for telling me and have a nice day,
François

Hi François,
For cracking, clicks and pops removal on LPs, I think the best program is "Groove Mechanic" by Coyote Electronics.
http://www.coyotes.bc.ca/GrooveMechanic.html
It's really amazing

Hi Karl,
Thank you for the link, that's kind.
I'll check that seriously, you can bank on it.
You know, I have different tools here, but the main current problem is : how can I spare the time to take care of everything...Lol
"Cleaning" the old good LPs is a great job (I have been "sollicited" by one engeneer who lives 4 kms from my appartment,...(typical mass mail), just because his business was refreshing your records).
I thought it would have been a good idea (working together, for instance...as I love LPs)...
I haven't gotten any reply since them (surely thinking my station wasn't worth it from him...see what I mean).
Anyway,...be sure I really appreciate all your help and support you give me.
The latest news : I just (a few minutes ago) got listed on another radio directory : http://www.thestreamguide.com
That's great.
Friendly,
François

LOL,
...well,...Thanks again anyway Karl...LOL
But you know, if I'm currently on top on the list, that won't last long, that's for sure; It's just because I may be the last whose radio has been accepted in the directory.
Top of The List,...not "Top of The World" (Carpenters). Lol
Please tell me about what you think concerning any suggestion made on the radio forum...and I'll give you a copy of the reply I sent to this University (I couldn't ever afford to stream the show live).
Anyway,...it's high time to go to bed for me; My cold must have been a little one (or that's only the beguining); I went to an Aïkido meeting tonight and had some celebration with my club.
Take care,
François

Hi my Friends,
I won't be able to be in front of my desk for a long time today...
But I just wanted to inform you about the tonight Live at California-101; As promised, and as I haven't received any special request about that Friday rendez-vous (8.00 PM (GMT) and 8.00 PM (PST)), I'll stream James Taylor in concert at Rio De Janeiro for Jorge.
I wish you'll enjoy it,...
Have a great day,
François

Hi Karl,
The concerts always start a 7.00 PM (GMT) and are re-broadcasted a second time a few hours later (at 5.00 AM (GMT). Each Friday.
France changes "it's clock time" tonight, to adopt Winter time...Just fancy...
Don't forget you also have a temporary US MP3 stream "signal departure" at http://216.12.162.16:8008 if the French one gets you into skipping matters ( http://195.140.141.200:8000 ) and Ogg ever overflows...(who knows ? Lol Maybe one day...).
Have Fun,
Gotta go again,
François (The performance starts exactly in one hour...with NO cuts...I never do that on California-101...That's boring and that sounds like FM stations).
