Oi my friends
This was sent to me by a very wise person, read and learn.
THE TRIPLE FILTER OF SOCRATES. In old Greece, Socrates was famous for his wisdom and the great respect that it professed to all.
One day an acquaintance of his was with the great philosopher and said to him; - "You know what I heard about your friend?"
"Hold on a minute, said Socrates". "Before saying anything to me, I want you to pass a small test. I call it the triple filter test". - "Triple filter?" "Correct", Socrates answered.
"Before you speak to me about my friend, it would be a good idea to filter three times what you are going to say."
"It is why I call the test of the triple filter". "The first filter is the truth."
"Are you absolutely sure that what you are going to say to me is certain?" - Well no, not really said the man I just heard it and... - "
"Well, Socrates said. Then you do not know if it is really certain or not." - "Now allow me to apply the second filter, the filter of kindness". "Is what you are going to say to me about my friend something good?"
No, on the contrary... -
"Then, you wish to say something bad to me about him, but you are not sure that it is certain."
"But I may want to listen to it because of the last filter, the filter of the utility". "Will it be useful to me to know what you are going to say to me of my friend?"
-No, actually No. - Well concluded Socrates-if what you are going to say to me is not certain, nor good and is not even useful why would I want to know it?"
Always use this triple filter whenever you hear commentaries on some of your near and dearest friends. I. A.
