Hey, first post but I've been messing with KVCD templates for some months now. I love that I can fit an entire movie onto one CD-R :)
A thousand thanks, Kwag!

Sharp DV-740 standalone DVD/VCD player results:

1) all MPEG1 modes work using KVCD settings if you mux as SVCD stream then burn as VCD.

2) all MPEG2 modes work using KVCD settings if you mux as SVCD stream then burn as SVCD.

3) it seems only horizontal resolutions of 352 and 704 are supported. if you use other values the picture is scrambled. vertical resolution can be any value it seems.

4) aspect ratio seems to be ignored. at least, changing it in TMPGEnc had no effect on the picture i saw on my TV!

5) CD-R 700Mb works with 8x burn, and thats as fast as my drive will write :)

6) CD-RW works mostly but still skips a little even at 2x burn speed

Generally I use 352x240 resolution, CQ 80+ mode with bitrate 0-2500, audio 64Kbps mono, muxed as SVCD (no scan offsets, no align headers), burned at 2x as VCD. Its worked fine so far for a number of movies converted from AVI.
