Because I own this dvd player, I've done some tests to find out the resolutions it supports. Using a 30 second sample captured from tv at 704x576 as the source for all clips. Resizing is done via simple avs scripts
containing LegalClip, GripFit and FluxSmooth. For encoding I used the default settings for the KVCDx3 MPEG-1 / MPEG-2 templates.
I've created clips for all possible combinations of the following options:
Resolution: 352x288, 352x576, 480x576, 528x576, 544x576, 704x576
Encoding: MPEG-1, MPEG-2
Multiplexed: VCD(vbr), SVCD
Burned these 24 clips once as VCD and once as SVCD using VCDEasy and played in my dvd player I found the following working combis:
352x576, MPEG-1, Mux:VCD, Burn:VCD
352x576, MPEG-2, Mux:SVCD, Burn:SVCD
480x576, MPEG-1, Mux:SVCD, Burn:SVCD
480x576, MPEG-2, Mux:SVCD, Burn:SVCD
704x576, MPEG-1, Mux:SVCD, Burn:SVCD
704x576, MPEG-2, Mux:SVCD, Burn:SVCD
The question is, which of these working combinations would you use to archive dvd rips and tv captures?
Thx.
