Toshiba SD-V291 plays the first three clips of the compatability test.
Toshiba SD-1950 plays all six clips but for the life of me I couldn't get it to play with audio on anything other than the compatability test clips. So I wouldn't recommend it.
JVC XV-N55 plays anything and everything I throw at it. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to get a new standalone.

... also Panasonic NV-VP30 eats everything
I've tested just for fun 480x260, 24fps.
No problem at all in playback. Picture was stretched to fullscreen.
... unfortunately no luck with miniDVD

hello,
for thomson dth231 :
352x240/288 (lbr and ubr ok); 352x480/576; 480x480/576 mpeg 1 or 2, work fine (although the cd compatibility tests doesn't work for 352x480 and 480x480 , don't know why).
I recommend to encode as mpeg 1 and mux and burn as svcd. but it works the other way too.
and sorry for my dreadful english
bye.
ps : oh, sometimes, there are little desynchronisations, if I do "rewind" "(backward ? i'm not sure) or "ffwind" (forward ?) or "pause". but it's ok by doing stop/eject/play/, etc...

Tested the samsung p421 and a samsung sv-dvd440 (plus the previous older model whose name I didn't take notice of), using kvcdx3 544x576 pal (mpeg1) muxed as svcd plus 2 authored DVR-R's (KDVD's).
They work perfectly...

Hum hum... of course if your eyes can't differ a KVCD from a KDVD...
(except if your KDVD are all done with mencoder :-p)

My JVC XV-N33 also plays KVCD. Only tried 352x288 though, so I don't know if it supports all the resolutions, but I think it does.

Pioneer DV-275-S is compatible. Please add it to the list. I have tried a home-made KVCD and also KSVCD.
