Just leave the framerate alone and burn as non-standard VCD (or SVCD if mpeg-2). If your player accepts the KVCD GOP and resolution it will play fine. You don't have to do anything to the audio, just...

@Godfather,

For my Apex-1500 I now use KVCDx3 at 544x480 at 29.97 for 23.976 and 29.97 avi sources, and 544x576 for 25fps PAL sources and quality is very good. If I want close to DVD quality I use...

telemike is correct, at least as far as my Apex 1500 is concerned. For NTSC 23.976 sources I can encode at 544x480, but I have to use the 29.97 framerate to avoid video stuttering every few seconds....

Highly recommend trying 544x480 instead of 528. My Apex 1500 will only play the 544 resolution--lots of video garbage at 528.

EDIT: Stick to mpeg1 if you can--better quality for KVCD at low...

As far as I know, Spacedust=lightest filtering, Pixie=heaviest filtering (slowest encoding).

EDIT: Sorry Kwag, didn't see that you had already replied with more detailed info!

What framerate are you encoding at? For the Apex-1500 you only need to use the 544x576 resolution if you're encoding at 25fps (i.e. 25 fps source). Otherwise, for a 23.976 or 29.97 fps avi source use...

What resolution are you encoding at? Are you using KVCDx3?

I find that when I encode at 544x480 that there's definitely an improvement from cq75-->cq90, but that's with leaving the min bitrate 300...

Thanks for the suggestion jorel.:D

I did resample to 44.1 with Headac3he, and still had the problem.

Just can't figure out why this would be the case... :?:

KVCD: Audio in sync on computer, but not on standalone?

Had a strange problem with an avi encode--25 fps, Divx 5.02, 2 hour movie, split off audio with virtualdub as wav and converted to mp2 with Headac3he. Encoded video with TmpgEnc using kvcdx3 mpeg-1...

I'd use mpeg-1 if your player can support it at 528x480 (or try 544x480 if that doesn't work) for NTSC (29.97 fps). As kwag has pointed out to me in the past, at the lower average bitrates we tend to...

Suggestion for most compatible player for kvcd?

Sorry to hear that your player may be at fault. I actually have loved my Apex 1500 for the most part because it takes any disc I throw at it, and accepts standard VCD and SVCD without any...

Well, as I expected 544x480 23.976 encode had skipping video as well (but audio was fine and in sync). This is very puzzling, since I had 544x576 25fps encoding working fine with a different 23.976...
