Hello. Long time reader, first time poster. So i was able to get my hands on Panasonic DMR-E20 to have at least some kind of TBC device but it didn't come with remote. I hoped that it would be possible to get into the menus without remote but i wasn't surprised that it doesn't seem to possible.

So what i'm asking is advices for getting remote for this thing? I know that same brand remotes usually work on other devices of same brand i have no idea what the year range would be. What i mean is that i doubt that early Panasonic DVD remotes work with this or do they?

Same issue probably with the universal remotes. Might be tough to find one that work's because i'm looking one from Finnish sellers but i guess i will try UK ebay if i can't find one locally.

There's a few on Ebay. Do a search for:

n2qakb000010

FYI, the remote for my ES-15 is completely different to this one.

E20 pre-dates anything TBC-like
ES20 does not have this function like ES10/15/25.

Perhaps then i got false info. I guess i will keep an eye out for ES models then. I could potentially get kinda shabby looking ES10 if the seller is willing to ship it.

Hello again. I'm seeing JVC S7950 for a decent price but it's sold without remote. This model has TBC for sure so it would be nice upgrade but it's useless witthout remote. I have JVC-HR-S5950 with remote and i was wondering if there's any chance that this model's remote would work on S7950? (probably not)

HR-S7950 remote is easy to get, not costly, so don't let that stop you.

Judging by the manuals they're from the same lineup and came with the same remote, so that should be no issue at all.

Most or all JVCs VCRs from at least the start of the 90s and on up until early/mid 2000s stuff use the same remote protocol afaik (only one I've used that differed is the DR-MX1 VHS/DVD/HDD combo, no idea when it comes to the OEM LG and Orion decks with JVC branding.) so the remotes are pretty interchangeable. E.g the the basic play/stop buttons on the remote from my 2003 HR-XVS20 works on the 1989 HR-D520. Ofc anything older than around 1995 won't have a menu button so those will not be ideal, but newer ones are pretty common, and some universal remotes are also usable.

Did you get a ES10, and have you been able to compare it to the E20 in TBC function?

Thanks for the replies. I was struck down by corona so i forgot the whole thing. It's still available so i still could get it but if i get HR-S7950 then i kinda don't need it. Of course more options is better but these machines take space.
