Hello all. I recently was able to purchase an Admiral JSJ 20454 model VCR along with a large lot of tapes. My current issue is the purchase did not come with a remote. I’ve tried searching online for a replacement but seem to be having no luck in finding one (most searches themselves are all about the VCR and not a remote). I did stumble across this forum and thought it couldn’t hurt to submit a post asking for assistance. Is there anywhere I could be directed to for finding a replacement remote or is there a suitable off brand / different brand VCR remote that would work for my VCR?

Odds are it is a clone of a more common brand and that a universal remote will work if you try a variety of codes for common brands like Funai, panasonic, JVC, Orion etc. Typically you'd start by programming a code and then seeing if the power button turns it on/off.

Hello, welcome.

Admiral = Montgomery Ward version Sharp

Great deck, in terms of low-end consumer VHS VCRs.

This should be it, $20 + tax on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303178436330

There are others on eBay, but no battery cover, not great looking.

eBay is a terrible place to source decks, but remotes are usually fine. Just be sure it's complete, no battery acid leakage, clean. I generally prefer to only buy remotes that have photos of front, back, and inside, so you'll need to request it from the seller. (Sellers like to hide things, lie by omission. If you don't see it, don't assume.)
