I have a friend who gave me and is continuing to give me a ton of cool stuff on VCD and my dvd player will not play them. They would play on my old one, but that one has since broken.

I have not been able to find any hacks, and I'm not sure what to do. Someone said they contacted Panasonic and they helped them with an "upgrade or service disc". I tried contacting them, but I have no answer yet.

Please don't tell me to buy another one - I don't have the money. I just don't like crowding around my computer to watch stuff on teeny tiny Media Player.

It is a Panasonic PVD4744S - I've had it about one year.

Any help is much appreciated!

hi, we have 6 dvd players and sometimes i have to try all six to find one that will play vcds. it usually turns out to be one of the inexpensive models that plays them without a problem. if i were you, i would see about buying one of those cheap cyberhome dvd players (about $30)or some other cheap dvd player, and see if they would play on it. if not, then just box it up and return it. just my opinion. if you have some interesting stuff and would like it transferred to dvd, i would work out something to transfer them for you. that is if i could play them, and probably one of the six dvd players i have would. lmk. thanks

Thanks, Stoogedog. I'll let you know what I've ended up with as soon as he's done getting these together. Hopefully I'll end up with some stuff I've really been looking for.

Did you ever find your missing Three Stooges cartoon?

The cartoons and the live action clips that accompanied them with Larry, Moe, and Curly Joe. I have various episodes on videotapes and dvd's for him, but they're no where near complete.

Sorry, I don't have any Benny Hill - wish I did. I get BBC America, and watch him every night, but what they show are hacked up sketches put together in to a one hour show. That bit aired last night. The little quotes appeard below him in a black box while he was singing. It was cute, and I thought they were funny.

I PM'ed you what I know so far about the vcd's.
