hi, my sister just bought a flat screen tv that has pciture in picture. they also are on direct tv. they hooked up everything. when you are using the picture in picture option, both screens are the same. if you chose one screen and change the channel, it also changes to the same channel in the other display. does anyone here know what the problem could be? does being on direct tv have any effect on it, like it does with not being able to record one channel while watching another? if this is the situation, does anyone have a solution so the picture in picture can be used? please reply if you can help. your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. thanks

DirecTV typically is one channel watched at a time. The only dual-tuner I've seen with them is their DVR, but that won't help either. You can watch one channel, while the dvr is recording another. I've had DirecTV for about 10 years, nice signal, but I had service problems (recently switched to dig.cable).

stoogedog, the only way I'd ever done pic-in-pic with DirecTV is using a 2nd input source (cable or antenna). The directv receivers will only output one channel via video/svideo, but if you hookup a cable or antenna source to the input of the receiver, you can output that through the coax (and the video/svideo will still show the direct channel). Closest you can come without having a 2nd receiver.
