It's not even in mint condition! The box is beat up, the foam inserts are broken.

I often think auctions like that have to be money laundering. That's just insane.

If something like this legit sells, I'm crawling into the attic, to pull out boxes. I have boxes for JVC 9600, 3800, SR-V10U, SR-MV45, DR-M10S; Panasonic AG-1980P, DMR-ES10; DataVideo TBCs, Cypres TBCs; capture cards, and many more. I bought much of my gear new, single owner, boxes should still be in great shape. So if anybody wants to buy a box, for $100 like the auction, plus shipping, PM me!

If you had to sell an old box, I'd only put it up for one dollar.

But not 100 dollars for an old beat up box. You could buy a good meal with that money instead.

I believe $99,99 is because of inflation.
In 2000 he sold empty boxes for $20 perhaps.

Yeah, but some people want what the want. Stuff like that just reminds me to go outside, play with the cat, read a book.

Now, I have empty Transformers G1 boxes, and I do plan to sell those eventually. But at least those have some collectible value. Do VCRs have collectible value? I've never thought that. For one thing, VCR boxes don't have artwork. At least the TF boxes have cool artwork, and give us 80s nostalgia.

Toy packaging has something at least, pretty fun design and vibrant or cool to look at.

There's probably people that buy these items for the packaging and less so the toy itself. It's like buying a video game back in the Atari and NES days, you bought whichever one had the coolest cover art.

Yeah but that's if the unit is in it's original box, which is a good thing.

I feel like if this listing was the VCR and box, this thread would not have been made.

Thankfully the seller is honest with saying it's only the box.

I rarely did that.
Usually magazine reviews got me interested in non-franchise titles.
Or store demos.
Or I'd let friends buy games first.
