Hi there. I made the same mistake, first ordering one like you show. If you go to Amazon, Newegg, etc. and search for "Soundblaster to CD ROM audio cable", you will find several choices.

Each came with a specific api "plug-in" not a general purpose DirectShow/DirectX compatible "device...
