Ah, I guess the NTSC 960 I was thinking of is a clone, not really familiar with the PAL models, but odd they really didn't change the naming convention for JVC clone vs not. Good to know.

NO! Avoid it like the plague!
It's one of the worst PAL S-VHS VCR ever made by Philips. I own one and the image quality is terrible: noisy and grainy beyond the acceptable level for a high-end S-VHS...

Probably does not have a line TBC, I believe the few that do are numbered over 1000, like 1100 comes to mind. Pretty sure it is a JVC OEM machine, though it might perform a little differently....
