That's right, there is no tape, and the VCR behaves as if the tape is inside :smack:

I didn’t take out the whole mechanism, just the plate holding the tape down. And...

Can anyone help me with VCR JVC Model: HR-J681 ?

The problem occurred when the tape got stuck. I took out the cassette feed mechanism, took out the cassette and put the mechanism back in the VCR....
