If the tape is fully rewound (leader showing) when inserted, there is a ticking from the pawl on the take-up reel, the tape goes forward a bit then rewinds quickly so the leader is exposed again, and then the tape won’t play. This is intermittent. If the tape isn’t at the beginning when inserted it works and plays normally. Service mode shows the tape sensors are working properly, but when the fault occurs the information display shows 2 (reel stop). I have lubed the pinch mech shaft, replaced the loading motor coupling, cleaned the mode switch connections and put contact cleaner into the mode switch. I checked the mode switch contacts with a meter and it seems fine. The deck runs smoothly apart from this fault. Have you any ideas please? Thanks, Jon
