I am looking for a service manual to fix my SVO-2000. Was working a few years back, now it plays tapes, but only shows a some very distorted video for a few seconds, then just shows blue screen. It was in great shape the last time I used it. Maybe dust got into the vent holes? I assume it won't be that easy.

Having same issue with my Sony SVO 2000. I took off the cover and notice left thread gear not moving. Looked online and very common problem broken blue gear. There are videos online and part is around 15 dollars to fix.
