Jvc super vhs picture gradually fails

Hi each and all - I am scratcjing my head with this one, from cold the machine is perfect, then usually after about 15 mins black lines appear on the outline of the images, this then gets worse until the picture is almost unrecognisable until it goes off altogether other than "No Signal" message on TV - heads have been cleaned most of the capacitors have been checked (Off the PCB ) I have not checked the power supply yet, have tried various cassettes, am using a brand new top quality scart, such a shame as this is a really nice VCR, does anyone have any pointers on what could be causing this issue,I have a spare vcr exactly the same so have every spare part "almost" one thing I did notice is that internally it shows signs of getting very hot - the ribbon cables etc have gone from white to a dirty yellow colour, I have even swapped over the complete head.drum but to no avail

If the defect is consistent with the VCR warming up then it should be something with the electronics not mechanical, I would start with the power supply first. What's wrong with the other VCR? Maybe it's much easier to build upon the other VCR if you know a little bit of its history. Post more details man, VCR model, what have you done with both VCRs etc. Possible a short video sample of the defect, don't expect help when you can't even post basic info.

This is the height of embarrassment but it is now fixed, and the culprit was simply The drum needed a clean. I tried one of those tape cleaning cassettes and was amazed at what came off the drum on to the paper as ( I had cleaned the head/drum with with Isopro Panol ) obviously not very well it has transpired so A BIG LESSON LEARNED

Well, you mentioned the heads have been cleaned, how are we supposed to know that? And yes the usual cleaning does not remove everything, this is why unusual ways of cleaning are sometimes needed.
