Have been using sony rdrgx7 to record encoded programming. This unit is one of first recorders, and has no built in features to prevent this. Are there other units, that can do this type of recording. If not, can this task be done a different way. Perhaps a device to get around it. These are college football games I collect for myself, not a for profit piracy activity. Thanking you in advance, Bill.

encoded programming? what are you recording from?
i have Dish and i can record anything from it which every DVD recorder and VCR ive tried.

if you want to long term archive these i would set up a PC with a capture card
capture to a hard drive and make redundant copies.
home burned DVD's don't last forever - i would not trust them as a sole archive
