Everything you need to know is in that web page, There is no mention to VHS, VHS is a consumer format and I don't think that deck supports it.

Digital-S (aka D9) totally different than vhs, it's JVC's own iteration of digital Betacam.

It turns out you can use D9 tapes with a W-VHS player and i guess with D-VHS aswelll (must be verified)
