I recently decomissioned my computer and built a a new speed demon of a machine.

I have all my programs reinstalled but i have a problem with stuff i have captured working in Vegas. Need to see if any of you video gurus can help me sus this out.

Using a Video8 into a Datavideo TBC1000 into a Lord Smurf Pinnacle USB capture (510) into VideoDub for the capture.

When i NOW try and open one of these captured videos in vegas it says something about a missing codec.

How do i know WHAT codec to get? Where would i get it?

Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

D

MediaInfo to read codec of file.
Then install that codec.

Busy, bad weather coming.

Huffyuv or Lagarith used to capture? I know we had posts on that, but don't remember what you decided on as lossless capture codec. Lagarith easier to install in x64, Huffyuv has added steps documented in the forum. ffdshow may be needed for Vegas as well, for FFHuffyuv.

EXCELLENT! Thanks for further exploring this with me.

Yes, i am using ONE of those two (i'll have to look to confirm which one). So if i am capturing on a Win 7 machine with one of those two, i will need it on the Win10 machine to edit/play it, correct?

LS,

I have confirmed that i was using Lagrath on the Win 7 capture machine and i assume i had it installed on my now retired Win 10 machine.

All i need to do is just install it on my new Win 10 machine and it will work?

Kindly confirm.
