Hi,

After sometime I decided to put to good use my Panasonic NV-HS950 vcr (PAL), so I connected it through s-video to my Hauppauge USB-live2 capture card.
So far I can't get it work with virtualdub, but I was able to make it work with AmarRecTV, but the image flickers a lot.

Can somebody tell me if this is due to the lack of TBC or if the vcr is broken and need to be fixed?

Here I uploaded some small clips (next post). Maybe somebody has seen this before.

In a few days I'll received a DMR-ES15 to use as a TBC(ish). Will try to see if it gets better. If not, I'll assume the vcr is broken. Once I save more money I'll try to upgrade to a better capture card, but now I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my vcr.

Thanks again, any help will help me out a lot.
Hope this year I can upgrade the capture card to a proper one too.

Step 1 when troubleshooting something like this is always eliminating the computer side of things.
Connect it to a TV and see how it looks. Ideally a CRT, since flat panels need to internally convert to digital to display anything, but connecting it to any display will at least give you another data point.

I'll try to get somehow a CRT tv if I find one, in the meantime I'll try to view it in my normal tv.

Something else that happens its that the audio captured has a minor delay L from R channel, so it sounds like reverb or duplicated. I tried capture with the motherboard as well with the usb capture card and both sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks.

I tried plugging the vcr to a monitor. Also hooked a headphones directly to the rca in the vcr, and the sound is still with echo, like reverb / phasing issue I believe.

I think I should take the vcr to a repair shop

That 610 card + lack of frame TBC may be issue here. A bit of both.

And/or perhaps the VCR.

Lots of variables at play here.

Those post was more than 1 month ago. Any progress made, or just waiting on some new gear to arrive?
