Hi

Looking to digitise some VHS tapes. Have a Panasonic NV-FS100 VHS player and was hoping to buy one of the Panasonic DVD recorders for a bit of extra picture stability without spending much. (Can't afford a £400 VHS player now, because I've just had to get a new roof...)

Unfortunately, after two attempts with separate Es-15 machines, I've encountered the same problem with both - that is, they make the picture worse rather than better. Both add much more waves and ripples than just the original VHS picture.

Will this be the known capacitor issues or could there be another reason? (I know how to solder, but my iron is 30 years old and seems to lack the heat for good joints nowadays)

I'm in Scotland, so dealing with the European PAL versions of the DVD recorders
