Hi,

Any advice for a PC spec /OS for encoding.
I’ve got someMpeg 2 files I recorded many years ago and would like to convert them to H264
I have a copy of Canopus ProCoder 3 ?

Any advice would be welcome?

Thanks ( UK based)

Use Hybrid for H.264 encoding.

Procoder is too old, inferior in every way. MainConcept is better for MPEG.

Canopus pro coder 3 wow, brings back bad memories, I ruined many tapes especially NTSC (blacks too blacks, same for whites). But i guess my incompetence is to blame aswell, i was a rookie.

I much prefer mainconcept reference v2 (now defunct), with fantastic grain retention / motion search imo.

Then you got free alternatives like HC Encoder (uses avisynth scripts)
