Hey guys!

Just snagged a Panasonic AG-7350 from an industrial reseller for $100 yesterday and am pumped to get it back and running!

It’s the first purchase in my quest to get some high quality transfers of some of our family’s home videos from VHS to digital.

The second purchase is of course a high-ish quality transfer card. There’s been so many options over the years I’m curious if there’s any cards that have a noticeable edge over any others?
I currently have an AverMedia Volar Max (non-HD) that I’ve used for a long time to record composite and S-Video, but I’m not sure how this stands up to higher quality cards. The biggest issue I had with my other Elgato capture card was that it refused to capture any “no input” video (not the Volar Max which actually records extremely well) which made me lose the first few seconds of each recording.
Is there any video capture option that would be noticeably better than the Volar Max for recording SD? Would love any recommendations!

Thanks so much!

Specific Pinnacles are the best all-around cards,
- able to install on the most Windows versions,
- balanced audio,
- good image quality values,
- resilient to dropped/inserted frames when using TBC(ish) solutions rather than actual frame TBCs

Which is why I make those available in the marketplace.

AverMedia is a known-problem card for SD videotapes, and that goes double for any HD card (because those "also do SD" quite poorly, and afterthought feature).

Easy ask, easy fix.
