My VCR broke right in the beginning of my project to convert all VHS tapes over to digital. Bummer! I don't think my VCR is worth trying to get fixed. So I am in the market to find another good model to purchase. My question that as I read other posts, member caution about buying off ebay, as you don't know what you will get. My question to this Forum is, is there a place that I can go to look for a reliable VCR that produces great picture, where I can feel better about purchasing something that I will be happy with the outcome? I have about 20 tapes left to do. It seems like JVC is the more recommended brand, the the models that start with HR. I appreciate any help with finding a good qualtify VCR so I can finish this project. My wife is after me to get done.

Thank you in advanced to all those that provide recommendations.

This is exactly why the marketplace sub-forum was established in the early 2010.
https://www.digitalFAQ.com/forum/marketplace/

We want our community to have access to reliable quality gear.

I often have decks, as do some others at times.

Just note that none of us have garbage for cheap prices. eBay junk is cheap for a reason, namely being that most of it is problematic junk. For example, it takes me a significant amount of time to refurbish these 90s-00s gear to function in excellent/like-new condition. And parts, supplies, work, experience, etc.

And always remember this: buy it, use it, resell it. Quality gear holds value, junk is your forever. There's often/always another person in your same position, in need of quality gear. I like seeing my gear passed from person to person, knowing that it has allowed conversion work to be completed in quality.
