Hey lads! Howareyas?

Currently, I am utilising a Sony DCR-TRV355E camcorder to copy over Video8, Hi8, and Digital8 videos to my PC. To be specific, I use the firewire outputs to copy over Digital8, and the analogue audio + s-video outputs for Hi8 and Digital8.

I am having difficulty finding information on what is the way to go in terms of a solution for these tapes. Would my current camcorder be the way to go, or are there better PAL alternatives out there?

While there are VTRs available for this, I think that camera will work just fine for you. I would not upgrade unless there's a noticeable problem during playback. Unlike VHS-based formats, 8mm-based formats don't really suffer from specific issues like chroma noise.

Digital8 is simply DV data stored on 8mm sized tapes. So this is the proper method.

This is also the ideal transfer method.
