I was reviewing some older posts from (December 2012?) and noticed a late reply by Lordsmurf on the bottom saying something like: Capture in .AVI for (purest? or least loss?) copy of VHS.(not an exact quote for sure!!)...I now have plenty of storage space, and am not of big resulting files, and I can chop out unwanted footage then store/backup in MPEG afterward?...I am Interested in the best possible quality master capture of my tapes, and want to settle on one file format,so I can start mastering all my tapes first, then edit later.

Thanks naripddi!, Wow, a nice chart from Lordsmurf himself!, from my own post a year and a half ago! (Such a tangled web we weave)....I am trying to settle on a lazy "One Setting" format for MMC on my ATI 9600XT set-up, so I can capture one VHS after another, B-4 something horrible happens to them or my equipment! (That's what Carbonite and backup drives are for!)...Lordsmurf mentioned "MPEG-2 for Broadcast"-up to 20Mpbs bitrate-..I don't think I have tried capturing in that high of a bitrate setting in MPEG MMC yet.??

I forgot I made that!
I've updated it to include Blu-ray.

Updated chart: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...html#post17575

I need to create a "capture decision" guide, I think. Eventually. (Things take longer these days.)
