I recently got a used Toshiba SV F990 that was for parts. The tape loading mechanism and transport mechanism works perfectly, but it seems to exhibit small red, blue, and green lines that are all over the picture, sort of like the defect in the AG 1970, 1980, 5710. Anybody know what's causing this? I'd love to get this beautiful deck repaired as it's a really nice deck.

What is that? What does it do?
Have TBC?
Known for something like excellent tracking? (like Panasonic)

Curious. That's a new model to me. (I think. If not, it's been a long time!)

This deck I believe is from 1989. I was interested in the build quality of the machine. Came with a huge gigantic remote as well. I would definitely say the build quality is superior to the VCRs that are suggested for dubbing to DVD. I could see through some of the red, blue, green lines, and honestly, the picture looked better than some of the JVC/Panasonics I have used.

the build quality really inst a factor.
the very best transfer VCR's are pieces of plastic shit.
even the HR-S9600U and the SR-W5U have sub-par built quality IMO
it is the TBC's that the old tanks lack that make the newer flimsy decks way better for tape transfers.
