How good is JVC Super VHS HR-S8500EH?

I see this S-VHS machine on a couple of lists within this forum, and was wondering how you guys would rate it for "home and friends" use?

I get the impression it's a decent machine. Any specific pitfalls or gotchas to be wary about regarding this unit?

What would be a fair market value for a working unit? (not Ebay-working, but truly working.)
