i just picked one of these up. excellent shape with very little use.
i haven't tried to capture with it. but playback is quite excellent. i have a JVC HR-S7500U here and the GVR-955 has a nicer picture.

it is a nice solidly built unit with a very smooth transport.
it isnt big and clunky like normal pro decks and it has normal RCA audio connectors.

my question is:
everything i read online say this unit has TBC, but i dont see a switch...unless it is just always on.

i just download a manual for the GVR-S960 which shows the TBC switch
so the GVR-S955 must not have it - still a pretty nice deck

Be wary of marketing descriptions.
They often mentioned TBCs when none exist. (Or when it's weak and worthless.)

I vaguely remember seeing Sanyo S-VHS VCRs in the mid 1990s, at the higher-end electronics stores. (i.e., not Best Buy)

- For sale in the marketplace: TBCs, workflows, capture cards, VCRs

Looks like an interesting deck! I've seen a few of these pop up on eBay lately. The front of it and the panel styling as well as the top look a lot like the JVC WVHS decks.

Any other observations now that you've had a chance to play around with it volksjager? Is it an SP only deck?
