The AAC specifications are designed for 48 channels

Edit:
Quoting:
"AAC is able to include 48 full-bandwidth (up to 96 kHz) audio channels in one stream plus 15 low frequency enhancement (LFE, limited to 120 Hz) channels and up to 15 data streams. Besides it has further multi-language capacities."

Have you tried converting them to .mp4 files? Some basic info: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=47748

Some differences between different aac files : http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.p...ST&f=14&t=5419

[EDIT]
How to put Psytel aac to ipod:

@Latexxx,

I tried encoding with the PsyTEL in my PC, and although it plays fine in WinAmp with the AAC CODECs, it doesn't play on the Mac in iTunes. No matter what extension I change it to. But I'll try to follow the procedure described in the link at hydrogenaudio. Maybe that way it will play in iTunes. I'm now considering a Philips EXP 401 MP3 CD Player, instead of an iPod
That player plays MP3 and AAC in small CD-R's
So I guess it's more flexible than the iPod, because if many manufacturers start to do that (Panasonic did it to in a small E-Wear player that also plays MP3 and AAC), I can transport my files between different machines. Not the case with the iPod

Hi people,

DON'T buy the Philips EXP 401 MP3 CD Player (Or any of the EXP series players)
I bought it, and returned it
It plays MP3's just fine, but playing AAC, it sucks
The audio voulme level is WAY too low!. It's a desigh flaw on all EXP series
Look at my post here in this thread, and the answer: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.p...&st=25&hl=kwag

With the volume turned up to the max, the AAC tracks sound about half the volume as the MP3 tracks, and it's not high enough. On WinAmp, both MP3 and AAC sound the same volume level. So the unit (and the Exp series ) definitely has a design flaw
