Simple : if you use the script with the Gricopline you told above you can use the exact same script for every movies ! You do not need to change the resizing parameters as GripCrop computes them automatically.
Just change "dest_anamorphic=false" to "dest_anamorphic=true" in order to do anamorphic KDVD.
|
Phil,
now i understand!
and what happen if i don't use (any resize), or better, no overscan ?
.....for KDVD of course!

no overscan, is better for a new tv ?

@peter1234
hmm can't reproduce. But it could depend a lot of the original size and of the borders size.
Btw, did you try with official 0.84b and did you encounter the same ?
I though think, as you, this is more related to Gripxxx
FuPP
[Off] How this guy managed to get the 0.854 ??? [/Off]

FuPP,
You post link here for HybridFuPP 0.854a. Should I not be using it?

Thanks a lot Jorel for time spent. These tests are always positive as they enable us to improve things, little by little and, at the end, to bring useful and powerful tools.
Thanks again,

@peter1234
I did that ? where ?
0.854a is only a test version : that kind of intermediate version enables me to test filtering chains and different possibilities for optimization. Not designed to be used as it is...
Btw this is probably my fault, as I have put some intermediate versions on my web site, to share them with alpha testers and probably forgot to change their names. That is the reason why, thinking downloading 0.85a - posted here to correct a chroma smoothing problem - , you have finally dowloaded some very intermediate versions... )

Yes... This is what I meant in my previous post... This link was intended to provide 0.85a, not 0.854a... Sorry for that. Maybe I will release something more official soon.

This topic has been most informative, and has enabled me to create the best looking KVCDs I have ever seen!
The HybridFuPP function is extremely powerful - which is a bit of a double-edge sword, because I don't quite understand what it does so don't know how to properly tweak it depending on my source.
Considering it is still in alpha/beta maybe this is premature, but at some point I think a new topic where people could post their specific scripts using HybridFuPP would be useful to all who read these forums.
What I mean to say is, what are the optimal settings for:
- Clean DVD
- Clean AVI/DiVx, etc...
- Clean analog (VHS) capture,
- Poor analog (VHS) capture
- Animation
- etc...
Like I said, it may be premature, but I think such a thread would be most helpful for everyone!
Thanks again to FuPP and Kwag for all their hard work!

Icarus, what you ask is more or less what is provided in presets (except for poor VHS capture). But in fact what you need is not only optimal settings on this filter, but an optimal script using HybridFuPP for each case. And this is the next step, just have to wait a little

I see a lot of examples in the help file, but I'm not sure under what conditions I should use them.
I guess the firs question is, when should I use preset=high, medium, or low?

Presets provided with HybridFuPP are a balance between raw quality and compressibility : "Low" means more compressibility but lower quality, and "High" the opposite.
I'm very open to add more presets as HybridFuPP structure enables it quiet simply.
Btw, at this moment, HybridFupp and presets provided are rather designed for clean material, remaining opened for processing other kind of sources.
All experiences are therefore welcome, and could lead to new presets creation.

With all the confusion about which version we are using if we are not testing the script and just want to use it which version should we be using and which presets in this line
Code:
HybridFuPP(448, 256, Preset="High", Chroma=False)
Also in tmpge what would be the best settings (high quality vs motion estimate and max bitrate)
I'm, assuming we should be using 84b with the presets stated earlier but we all know what happens when we assume
thanx

Even if it is true that chroma smoothing has been improved on 0.85a, in most case you shouldn't see any difference using 0.84b. So this should be your choice.
HybridFuPP(xxx, yyy, Preset="High", Chroma=true), using 0.84b is still a good choice
