I did only 2 tests with hybrid : one with hight, the second with medium.
On the first one, even I found picture not very nice (ants, as you call them). But with medium I'll found it really good.

Just try "Medium" to see if it's in your taste.

Note: saying ALL parameters don't have any means as you don't say what values you set for each parameters !

this means = using HybridFuPP 320X240 with ALL parameters!

Your script does not contain anything else ? No asharp for instance ?

in the "begining" had...
when i see the "ants", i remove everything trying to find the reason!
all the scripts tested now are without any other filter,
have only the source and the HybridFuPP parameters like:

mpeg2source("D:\xx\x.D2V")
HybridFuPP(352, 240, "changing parameters")
#AddBorders(?,?,?,?) # adjust values if needed (fitcd or moviestacker)

"changing parameters" means...."changing parameters"...all parameters
