I know I'm supposed to search first, and I did - there are just too many pages to go through that have autoaspect=1 on them.

So, what is this problem with autoaspect=1, that's been mentioned?

Simple : this with parameter mencoder try to compute itself the correct A/R of the source to keep it while you are scaling the picture. The problem if you use packshot or mencalc is that Incredible already spent HOURS on the computing of correct scaling parameters that take in account the source A/R.

In few words : autoaspect scres completly Inc's work.

Thats why the new Packshot beta gots "-noaspect"!!! in its generated commandline! And the "autoaspect=1" also should'nt be in there anymore, Fluffbutt - !could you please check that!.

Thanks!

BTW: Autoaspect=1 also screws up every resizing applications work!
So also used FitCD Parameters will be screwed up!

Thanks guys. So it's linked to tools that already do aspect calcs.

It's not so much a problem with mencoder, as a problem with doing the aspect calculations more than once (or sending pre-calculated stuff to menc, to recalculate).

I'm doing menc. work with bat files, most of my stuff doesn't need special size work, straight from dvd size to vcd/svcd either 4/3 or with borders (widescreen), as is.

Thanks again.. I just saw a post that referrred to the 'autoaspect problem', and hadn't heard of it before...
