Help with my problem.
I try to encode a sample AVI clip to KVCD using Tmpgenc and KVCD template (KVCD-CQ-352x240-_NTSCFilm_-PLUS).
The Original AVI clip is 1 minute and 30 seconds long, but the resulting
.M1V file is only 17 seconds.
What seems to be the problem???
Here is my sample AVI specs:
Frame Size: 512x256
Frame Rate: 29.97
Codec: DivX 5
# of Frames: 2698
Playing Time: 1 min 30 secs
BTW, when encoding with Tmpgenc, it encodes all the 2698 frames.
Thanks in advance for helping...

Try installing another mpeg2 codec, like Ligos or Mainconcept.
Don't be necessary to reencode mpg. It is, usually, only a codec issue.

rocknet,
welcome in forum!
it's strange...
2698 frames = 01:52.529
but you posted:
# of Frames: 2698
Playing Time: 1 min 30 secs
can you play it in vdub? if yes, read the time and # of frames!

Hi Jorel,
My sample's frame rate is 29.97 which = 2698 frames / 1 min 30 sec.
while your computation of 2698 frames is based on 23.976
which = 01:52.529.

oh yes...you're right!
source 23,976
2698 frames = 01:52.529
source 29,970
2698 frames = 01:30.023
but you forgot 2 things:
first: the .023 in the time
second: you don't answer... the file play in vdubmod? (audio and video?)

@Rocknet: Did you read my previous post. Did you make as I told you?
Less than you can do is to have the deference to answer me.

You have an incorrect DivX CODEC or you have a corrupt DivX.
Install a newer DivX CODEC. If that doesn't work, use a tool to repair your DivX. If that doesn't work, get rid of that DivX

Calm down Karl
You know that playing time displayed by WMP is false when you play a KVCD on 90% of the PC and this is due to the codec used to read them (what Pro already said BTW). And that occurs whatever the source is Divx or DVD

I assumed he had already played it, and found out that only 17 seconds were available.
So, let's rephrase it:
@rocknet,
Drag your .m1v into Virtual Dub, and see if the complete clip is in there

Yes I read your post, but I'm using a mega codec pack so don't really know what right codec to choose if I reinstall it. I just use the default settings during installation.

Yes it does play completely in vDub., it just doesn't play completely in WMP and WMP classic.
So where's the problem? Must be a codec problem as said by Prodater64 & Kwag.
BTW, Am using K-lite Mega Codec pack using the default settings when I installed the codec pack. maybe I should reinstall it?
Also, I am able to mux the m1v file and the mp2 file using bbmpeg to produce the final KVCD mpeg file. And guess what, the final mpg file plays completely in WMP and classic.

Just uninstall it and get a single codec somewhere.
Codec packs are evil unless you really know what you're doing.

Or use ACE MEGA CODEC PACK 5.93 PRO that allows you to install/uninstall/reinstall whatever codec you want. You have a defautl choice for sure but you can do any change on what is installed, at any moment.

I have the same problem only with a bigger file. It a 2 hour and 25 minutes movie that I encoded to m1v and muxed on BbMpeg and for some reason the time stamp on every player i've tried using is 16 minutes. It does seem to work on V-Dub though. I've just tried to download all the suggested codecs and the players still write 16 minutes. Is there's something else perhaps that I can do?

Dling the codecs is not enought, you have to install them properly
Use zoomplayer or bsplayer to run the KVCD and ask for have the list of filter used. See which one is use for the video and is it is NOT ligos, desintall it ! (very often that is elencard that is used, and elencard gives time problems)..
You must use ligos mpeg codec AND ligos splitter if you want to have a correct time. You need both.
