Hi Bombero0437,

The KVCDx3 are rated at approx. 60 minutes per CD. You can lower the quality value, and still get around 90 minutes per CD with reasonable quality. Lower values will increase playing time, but quality degrades very rapidly. You can try modifying the x3 template to output a resolution of 544x instead of 528x, and see if it works on your Apex.

I lowered the CQ from 30 to 12, I used fitcd for a script, the only res that works on mine is 480x480 (with this temp) I also went from 160 to 128 on the sound. and the file is still comming out at 1.3 megs.

the source is DVD-Rip 29 fps(smart ripper) DVD2AVI (sound)110-minutes

the preview looks great while its encoding, I had to use de-interlace on the advanced tab , because it was looking very bad with lines and jagged edges until i did so, unfortunetly it seems to take longer I set it to (double) its the only one that looked the best.

I must be doing something wrong, but i cant figure it out....

P.S. I see a lot of you guys here using "temporal smoother" in their scripts, but i cant get that to work in mine, it keeps telling me there is an error when i activate it in the script.

sorry if so long winded, but man you guys have the answers here....

Thanx in advance...Bombero

Hi bombero,
You need to do IVTC on your movie. Not deinterlace it.
Read about Inverse Telecine on the forum, and read here: http://www.inmatrix.com/articles/ivtc.shtml

Kwag, the link you sent me to, was full of info, i understand what IVTC is now and why I need it for this movie, but they left out a few bits of info that im sure you can fill in..

1. when i use it the preveiw in TMPEnc goes black for the whole process, it shows that it is working but i dont see anything.

2. will this make the movie smaller in size?

3. since the source is 29fps converting to 23fps, will this put my movie out of sync, or should i have used Force Film in DVD2AVI?

4. I will still drop the CQ to 12/13 from 25/30 to try to double the time

5. there should be a section on your forum for movies and the the methods used to get them on 1 disc, i dont know call it "Movies & Methods" or something, that would help alot of us with movies that seem to be harder than others to fit on 1 disc with the quality that your temp offer....just a sugestion...

Thanx in advance....BOMBERO
