Came across HC and AutoCQ on Doom9. What's interesting is the Matrix

You don't even have to change it.
The Notch is already inside HC's code.
No need to patch it as we've done with other encoders.
And now it has a GUI.
As I said on the other thread it's VBR mode is still slow when compared to other encoders CQ mode (tmpg/nuenc).
But it also has a 1-pass Q mode not the same as CQ mode and very similar to cce's Q mode.
And then again, nuenc's CQ mode is really Q mode where Peter Cheat is using different Q values for each I/B/P frames and he can use fractional values.
Quality and speed with HC are still a bit under tmpg's CQ but there must be a lot of room for development.
Let's see if Hank can improove it.
