I know have asked this a couple of times, but there are a few different answers on this forum. Maybe there can be a stick for it.
Anyway, I am just trying to figure out what the settings should be for TMPGEnc in terms of aspect ratio in the Video and Advance tab if the film is wide screen. I know fitcd adds borders for every aspect, but is this necessary if you want to view it on both a computer and DVD ?
Has per a friends suggestion here is the information about what I am doing to help answer my question.
1) What is your source? Gattaca DVD, and Rats of NIMH
2) What is the resolution, framerate, aspect ratio, frame type, etc. N/A
3) What settings did you get with FitCD? anamorphic,DVD Source
4) How did you extract the audio? DVD2AVI
5) What is the movie lenght? 106 minutes, 83 min
6) Which KVCD template did you choose? KVCD + cq 73, KVCD +cq80
7) How many CD's do you want this movie on? 1
P.S. I only use the KVCD+ Template because I have an Apex 500w

3) did you set output resolution to VCD (352x240) and TV overscan 1?
5) The movie length is 106 min (Gattaca) and 83 min (Rats of NIMH)?
For 1 CD try KVCD-LBR. Set the CQ = 30 for both.

For 352x240(28 , the simple answer is YES.
I would even say that it's better than the KVCD_352x240(28 PLUS.
It uses a tighter GOP to compensate for the low resolution, so it gives better results than the regular KVCD 352x240(28 or the PLUS.

So the way you configured the GOP for the LBR, forces a smaller cq ?
For instance, the br is still 1150 for both the LBR and the KVCD+, but you can hike up the CQ to about 77 or 75 for a 100-112 movie. But the cq is 30 for a 80-100 movie ?
p.s. I am doing 13th warrior now on one cd

Just use the file prediction formula, and adjust the CQ value accordingly. A 2 hour movie made with the LBR looks just great!. ( VCD resolution of course, if that's ok with you )
