@DVDREasy,

My first attempt to backup a DVD "Domestic Disturbance" widescreen,
1 hour, 29 minutes, 6 seconds:

Problems / Comments:

1) DVDREasy forces DVD Decrypter to create one VOB file as though
all systems have NTFS. I'm using FAT32 and need to separate vob's
by 1048MB. W2K stops DVDREasy when file size is greater than 4GB.
No matter what settings I give DVD Decrypter, DVDREasy overrides it.

2) I have a batch process using DGIndex instead of DVD2AVIdg.
Is this the same program?? DGIndex is suppose to return a more
accurate length and frame number.

3) When setting up DVDREasy, I chose HCEnc as my encoder, but
DVDREasy would not run unless I included CCE and Bitrate Viewer.
Even though I won't be using CCE, DVDREasy would not execute.

4) It seems that selecting the IFO file for movie-only is what DVD
Decrypter does when selecting movie-only. I have used EAZYVCD
and it automatically runs Vstrip to select the movie-only option.
Maybe DVDREasy could detect when a DVD is in the drive and
show the ifo movie only instead of having to manually select it.

5) I tried DVDREasy on a friend's computer with NTFS and W2k and there
were no problems except HCBatch_013b was slower than HCBatch_014.
The results were excellent. File prediction was very accurate for a DVD+R.
My computer has a burner for DVD-R. Will DVDREasy be able to calculate
for this DVDR (size 4.3GB).

Thanks

-BP

Hi black prince,

1 A) When only re-author is needed (movie + audio + subs are < 4.3 GB) DVDREasy needs to demux the audio + video. This is done by BBDMUX wich, AFAIK, needs to have only one vob to completly demux the all movie. I'm looking for an alternative way . . . (Sugestions are wellcome)

1 B) Yes, DVDREasy "temporarely" overwrites DVDDECRYPTER settings. After the RIPing process finish, previous settings are restored.

2) To be honest, Don't know DGIndex. Did a litle search and it really seems that this is an evolution of DVD2AVIDG. MUST check this more extensive.

3) This happened in 0.5.6 release. It is corrected in 0.5.8

4) Yep, That would be a nice improvement. User just point to DVD drive and DVDREasy will automaticly selects the right IFO.

5) In fact, DVDREasy do the maths for 4.3GB wich fits on DVD -R/+R

Thanks for your comments & problems report

Cheers

Here's what I'm using and it works for NTFS and FAT32. Other DVD Decrypter
settings remain set.
C:\HC_Encoder\DVD_Decrypter\DVDDecrypter.exe /MODE FILE /DEST "G:\Temp\" /START /CLOSE

Seems if DVDREasy starts with DVD Decrypter selecting Movie-Only the
proper IFO is picked automatically. If DVD Decrypter is wrong then
you could search dvd drive, video_ts folder and select another IFO.

D/L'd the latest version from website, but only got 0.5.6

What I mean is if there were a drop box to select the type of DVDR,
DVDREasy would work with this DVDR size.

I think you miss the point . . .

My problem is not how I invoke DVDDECRYPTER. If I use what you sugest, DVDDECRYPTER will rip the main movie with ALL the audios and subtitles. . .

The way I do it, DVDDECRYPTER ONLY rips the movie plus 1 audio and 1 subtitle chosen.

What I mean is, if the ripped vob files are < 4.3GB then no re-encoding is needed, only re-author. And for re-author with MUXMAN I need to demux, from the ripped vob files, the audio and video first. This is done by BBDMUX, which needs to have only one vob to demux the complete movie.

DVDREasy used the split vobs by 1048 MB till version 0.3.6 where the re-author was done by IFOEDIT. But IFOEDIT doesn´t have a command line and DVDREasy controlled it by "keypress" (simulation of keystrokes by a user). I had a lot of problems report with that aproach and replaced IFOEDIT with MUXMAN.

I hope you can understand me now . . .

Cheers

Did you checked this thread http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15797

Beside the error message, can you do the conversion till the end or it is stopping the process ?

After HC is launched, the error message appears and then the whole process is interrupted.
BTW Where is the hc.ini supposed to be created?

This was wierd! I decided to run the process again to get the hc.ini since I deleted the old files in the working directory. But guess what... Now it works! Strange...
But I'm not complaining !

I didn't know where to post this question, so sorry if I'm posting in the wrong thread...

What I'm wondering is:
Is it possible to merge a 2-DVD movie to one DVD-R? For example the extended versions of "The Lord of the Rings"? If it is possible, how can I do that?

Just another feedback here.
I just finished encoding Kate & Leopold, and although the final size is perfect, the subtitles are completely way off sync
I mean like more than 10 seconds off.
I know this movie caused us many problems in the past, and we had to extract the audio with MPEG Mediator in order to keep audio sync, but I have never seen audio and video in perfect sync, but subtitles completely off
Could this also be an IFO parsing bug on DVDREasy

Never seen either. That is very odd

I don´t think that is related to IFO parsing. In IFO parsing you only retrieve the subtitle language and the corresponding address(0x??)

I will try to grab that movie and run it in DVDREasy to see if I can find anything strange...

You are the first one to report this kind of problem.

I have another subtitle related problem.
I've been trying to encode a couple of DVDs and not once have the subtitle been Swedish, the one I chose. I always get another subtitle, mostly Norwegian or Danish.
Any ideas to why?

It could be a bug in DVDREasy . . .

Could you mail me the IFO of the main movie (the one you are specifying in dvdreasy) to dvdreasy@netcabo.pt ?

Thanks.

Cheers,

DVDREasy

@dvdreasy
I'll see what I can do
I've encoded quite a few movies the last days but I'm sure I can find an IFO file to mail you.
