Hi Guys,

I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong section and if it is please accept my appologies and feel free to move it to the correct section, I posted here as it regards KDVD.

Robot1 has just released a new version of his excellent DVD-RB add-on RB-Opt.

He is a really nice guy and I have we have had swapping several PM's regarding the updating of RB-Opt and the use of it with DVD-RB Pro.

I just love this new version. I am currently testing it with DVD-RB Pro version 1.00 RC3 and what I love about it is:

Now in DVD-RB Pro you can set your default matrices for main features, extras and low bitrate and ultra low bitrate, guess which one I use?? (KVCD or course )

Now this is the beautiful part IMO, after I run the Prepare Phase in DVD-RB PRo I then load it in RB-Opt 0.18 Beta.

Now RB-Opt remembers the settings in DVD-RB!

It already has the KVCD 'notch' matrix selected as my default matrix and also the GOP & DC settings that I inputted into DVD-RB Pro.

The only thing it doesn't to at the moment is remember the Min bitrate and the Max bitrate and you still have to set these for all the VOD-ID's.

I am now doing an encode and I will report back here of the end process once it's done.

I know Phil for one here uses DVD-RB and was holding back on using Pro because of the lack of support from RB-Opt, now you don't have to worry Phil. Robot1 has answered our prayers and make it compatible.

I hope you can run some tests also please Phil so we can combine our findings with this new release.

A big thank you goes for Robot1 for this great tool and for listening to me and a few others that have asked him for the added features he is a great guy imho.

Actually I dropped it because I just wanted to see what was different in it, so I ripped it from emule. I did not pay the fee.

In my opinion it is well worth donating and upgrading to the Pro version. I have been pleased with it since upgrading and now that Robot1 has upgraded RB-Opt to work with it, I am over the moon.

I love the fact that it allows the KVCD matrix from within DVD-RB itself and RB-Opt recognises this and has it selected by default so the old days of having to point RB-Opt to a txt file with the KVCD matrix in CCE form (i.e with the tab before each line) are gone.

Can't wait to see what improvements Robot1 has for his next release.

DVD-RB and RB-Opt are my favourite tools for backing up my DVD's.

Hi Guys,

FYI : I installed yesterday DVD-RB Pro RC4 : BE CAREFULL !

The matrix file for KVCD matrix is corrupted (I don't remember if it is delivered in the RB-OPT0.20 or Matrix Editor directory) : there is only 7 lines in the intra matrix.

You can see that easily : if you try to load it into the matrixeditor, you freeze it ! (no error displayed, but nothings works after that).

I don't know how CCE proceeds when the matrix is wrong in the ecl file, but there is a chance that default matrix will be used without notice. Be aware of that.

Note: there are a dozen of matrix files delivered. Guess how many are corrupted...

@Dialhot

Thanks for the info Phil.

I am currently using RC 5.1 and RB-Opt 0.21B and Have made several encodes with no problems so I think it must have been fixed now.

Thanks for the heads up though Phil.

UPDATE: I just checked the Matrix folder and just to confirm yes it is fixed.

Please be aware that there are two Matrix entries for KVCD.

One is KVCD.mtx and the other is KVCD_notch_matrix.mtx. I use the second one but there is no difference between the two I guess they just made a mistake and added both.
